Bio

Margaret L. Jenkins is a retired marketing executive with an extensive background in advertising, retail and consumer marketing management. She was the chief marketing officer of Spartanburg-based Denny’s Corp., the nation’s largest family restaurant company, from 2002-2007. Ms. Jenkins is also the former chief marketing officer of El Pollo Loco Restaurants, a California-based quick service restaurant chain. She has held various senior management positions with Taco Bell Corp. and PepsiCo Foods International. Ms. Jenkins began her career in advertising, serving as an account director on brands such as McDonald’s, Sunny Delight Beverages and BP PLC’s convenience store brand known as ampm.

Ms. Jenkins currently serves on the board of directors of Citi Trends, a publicly-traded chain of value-priced urban apparel and home accessories. She chairs the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee. Prior to Citi Trends, Ms. Jenkins served eight years on the board of PVH Corp., the parent company of such well-known brands as Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and Warnaco. She was on PVH’s Nominating & Governance Committee and the Environmental, Social and Governance Committee.

Ms. Jenkins is a Los Angeles, California native and now resides in Greer, South Carolina. She is the chair of the board of Prisma Health-Upstate, the region’s largest healthcare provider. She is also a board director of The Warehouse Theatre. Past non-profit board affiliations include The Peace Center, the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, the Upcountry History Museum and Greenville Women Giving.  She is a graduate of the Riley Institute at Furman’s Diversity Leaders Initiative. 

Ms. Jenkins studied journalism and communications at the University of Colorado. She received a Public Company Certification from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. 

Ms. Jenkins is an avid enthusiast of the performing and visual arts and enjoys reading, films, fashion and tackling the New York Times crossword puzzle each day
