Bio
Born and raised on a farm in Pickens, SC, Charles from an early age developed a love for antique cars, Clemson football, and serving the Upstate of South Carolina. Charles cofounded and operated a furniture company in Pickens with his brother, Allison Dalton, before starting his career with Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative.
Charles has received statewide recognition for his contributions to business, regional collaboration, and community service in South Carolina. In addition to contributing to the Upstate's growing economy during his tenure as President and CEO of Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, Charles has also served in multiple capacities on nonprofit boards, including:
- Former Chairman, Better Business Bureau of the Foothills
- Former Chairman, Upstate Alliance of South Carolina
- Former Board Member of the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce and
- Vice Chairman for public policy
- Member of Clemson University IPTAY Board and served as President of the Board 2011 - 2013
- Former Member of the Clemson University Foundation Board
- Former Board member of South Carolina Chamber of Commerce
- Former Commissioner of the South Carolina Department of Transportation, and served as chairman twice
- Former Board of Trustees Member of The Peace Center
- Member of Upstate PRISMA Health Board
- Member of the Upstate American Heart Association Board, he and Libby co-chaired the 2017 Upstate Heart Ball
- Currently serving on the Commission of Higher Education
Charles resides in Greenville, SC with his wife, Libby, and enjoys spending time with his three children and three grandchildren.
