Bio
Background: | Neurotintensivist and Director, Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound Services as well as the Chair of Pharmacy and Therapeutics at Prisma Health-Upstate in Greenville, South Carolina. I serve as a Professor at the University of South Carolina-Greenville School of Medicine. Previously, I was the founding Medical Director of the Prisma Health-Upstate and OU Medical Center Neurosciences Intensive Care Units. I served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. I was also on faculty at the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. I was a United States Department of Energy Applied Health Physics Fellow, graduated from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed my medicine internship and neurology residency at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine-Corewell (Botsford Hospital). I completed a two-year fellowship in neurocritical care and stroke at Duke University Medical Center. I wrote the post-cardiac arrest hypothermia protocols for Durham County EMS (North Carolina) and later worked with the Oklahoma Office of the Medical Control Board to co-author the state’s post-cardiac arrest treatment protocol which was applied throughout the state. I served as the Vice Chair of the LifeShare Advisory Board (Oklahoma Organ Transplantation Services) from 2010-2013. I have multiple publications in Continuum including “Neuroimaging of Hemorrhagic Stroke” and "Imaging of Central Nervous System Hemorrhage". I am board certified in Neurology, Neurocritical Care, Neurosonology (RPNI), as a Neurovascular Specialist (NVS), and as a Certified Professional Biller (CPB). I was the first fellowship trained DO neurointensivist and the first DO to be designated Fellow of Neurocritical Care Society. I received a Presidential Citation in 2014, 2017 and 2018, and 2020 from the Neurocritical Care Society and in 2017 from the Society of Critical Care Medicine. I also received the 2017 ASN Volunteer Member Award where I served as the past Treasurer and now serve as President-Elect and the Co-Chair of the Certification Committee overseeing the NVS certification exam which I helped create. |
