Bio
Background: | Dr. Elaine Apperson is the Chief of Pediatric Endocrinology for Prisma Health Children's Hospital Upstate and a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She is a member of the Executive Committee on Endocrinology for the Board of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She co-chairs the Public Policy Committee of the national Pediatric Endocrine Society. She serves and has served as the primary investigator of numerous research trials and has authored several peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Apperson completed her fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. Her research work was conducted with the diabetes research unit at the Joslin Diabetes Center. After she completed training, she was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School. She later practiced as an Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama School of Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama. She joined the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at Prisma in 2009. |
