Bio

Background: Dr, Chowdhury immigrated to the US in 1990 after completion of medical school at Dhaka Medical College in her home country of Bangladesh. She did an Internal Medicine residency at St. Raphael Hospital from 1993 to 1997, where she spent a fourth year as a Chief Resident. After three years of working as a teaching attending at St. Raphael’s, she spent five years in private practice at West Haven Medical Group with a continued teaching role at St. Raphaels. Dr. Chowdhury then pursued a Hematology fellowship at the Yale School of Medicine from 2006 to 2009 and was board certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology. After her fellowship, she joined the Cancer Centers of the Carolinas, which has since become the Cancer Institute at Prisma Health, as a clinical hematologist and oncologist. In this role, her clinical focus has been benign and malignant hematology, with a focus on bone marrow transplant and cellular therapies including CAR-T. She has also since become Director of Inpatient Oncology, Medical Director of the Apheresis Program, and Medical Director of the Cellular Therapy Collections Program at the Cancer Institute.
