Earn two degrees while saving time and money.
The Accelerated Master of Science in Quantitative Economics (MSQE) program allows eligible University of South Carolina undergraduate students to begin graduate-level coursework while completing their bachelor's degree.
Students can count up to four approved courses toward both degrees, potentially saving up to 40% of MSQE tuition and completing their master's degree in as little as one additional summer and fall semester after graduation.
Why Choose the Accelerated MSQE?
Save Time and Tuition
Complete your master's degree faster by applying up to four approved courses toward both your undergraduate and graduate degrees. Students may save up to 40% of MSQE tuition through the accelerated pathway.
Gain Valuable Analytical Skills
Develop an understanding of economic markets and learn how to use quantitative data to generate insights that inform business and government decisions.
Advance Your Career Opportunities
Prepare for careers in finance, consulting, government and research through advanced training in economics and data analysis.
Earn the Same MSQE Degree
Complete the same curriculum as students in the traditional MSQE program while taking advantage of an accelerated pathway.
How It Works
Students should follow these steps to participate in the Accelerated program:
- Establish an accurate, thorough understanding of their undergraduate degree requirements
with their UG advisor and notify their UG advisor before starting this process.
- Meet with the MSQE Program Coordinator (Kathy Anastes, kathy.anastes@moore.sc.edu) to ensure they are qualified and review the enrollment process. The program coordinator
will outline which courses should be taken under the accelerated plan and recommend
opportunities to eligible students to incorporate double-count courses.
- Complete the Accelerated Approval Form to have your courses double count. This form must be completed each semester before enrolling in any accelerated course.
Please note that speaking with your advisor, speaking with MSQE staff, and applying to the MSQE program is a simultaneous process. The earlier you start this process, the better. While we cannot guarantee admission, meeting the eligibility requirements below makes for a strong MSQE application.
Even if you are not admitted to the MSQE program, by working with your advisor, you can ensure that the courses will still count towards your undergraduate program so that there is no negative impact on your studies.
