Akilah Alwan graduated from USC with a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, and has also earned a master’s degree in educational research, measurement and evaluation from Auburn University. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in earth system science from Auburn. As a graduate student, Akilah earned several honors and awards, including the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.

Outside of the office, Akilah loves being outside and spending time with their dogs, Pierre and Geo. Akilah loves all things music, including songwriting, producing and performing — she plays over 8 instruments. Akilah is also an avid traveler and hopes to one day become a polyglot. She currently speaks Spanish and is learning French and Portuguese.
