Mental Health Peer Leaders are trained undergraduate students who support campus well-being through outreach, education, and peer connection. They reduce stigma, promote mental health resources, and create a more caring community by leading conversations, events, and peer support efforts.

Our trained professional staff and peer health educators are ready to deliver presentations on a wide range of health and wellness topics for the USC community. Use the form here or call 803-777-8283 to submit your request and bring wellness education to your group or classroom.

Coaching and consultation are available to students for mental health topics such as nutrition, stress management, substance use and recovery, and more.

TAO Coaching

TAO Coaching provides USC students with virtual, one-on-one guidance from a mental health professional. This convenient and confidential service helps students apply evidence-based tools to manage stress, build resilience, and enhance mental health—anytime, anywhere. Coaching sessions are ideal for students who want additional support or accountability as they work through TAO by Uplift’s online modules.

Wellness Coaching

Wellness Coaching provides you with education, support, and encouragement to develop behavior for a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. Meet individually with a coach in-person or virtually to identify your priorities, create an action plan, build new skills.

Nutrition Consultation

Any student can make an appointment to meet for a free one-on-one nutrition consultation with our Registered Dietician. Initial nutrition appointments may involve gathering a health history, reviewing the food record form, discussing medical nutrition interventions or education, and behavior change guidance.

Our dieticians use Health at Every SizeTM principles and will not make weight loss a goal.

STI Testing/Consultation

The sexual health office offers free virtual and in-person consultations for students who are interested in STI testing or want to discuss sexual health questions and concerns.

If you are experiencing symptoms related to an STI, please schedule an appointment with Women’s Health or Primary Care to receive treatment.

STIR (Students Taking Initiative & Responsibility)

STIR is a personalized coaching program focused on harm reduction and prevention. You will take a substance use assessment designed to provide a deeper understanding of the factors that influence your relationship with drugs and alcohol. The next step will be to attend three confidential one-on-one sessions with your coach, who is there to offer insight and encouragement as you complete the program.

After you have completed all three sessions, your STIR coach will assess your progress and determine whether you may benefit from further sessions or referrals to other services.

Group therapy is often the most effective treatment for many of the emotional and relational needs of university students. The wide variety of groups we offer each semester differ greatly in topic, skill and/or interpersonal need.
