About Beyond The Classroom Matters

Beyond the Classroom Matters (BTCM) recognizes that meaningful learning happends both inside and outside the classroom. BTCM documents student engagement and learning that occurs beyond the traditional classroom through experiential learning opportunities, courses, and  co-curricular programs.

By systematically recording these experiences, BTCM provides valuage information to improve programs and services, demonstrate student learning, and understand how engagement contributeds to  student success, persistence, and timely graduation.

Access to Student Records

University employees who serve in advisory roles may request access to BTCM by submitting an Advisor Access Request form.  Individuals requesting this level of access should first review the FERPA guidelines available via the University Registrar and complete the FERPA training quiz.

Access to BTCM Data

Individuals who would like access to BTCM data for reporting, dashboards, research, or assessment should submit a BTCM Curiosity & Data Partnership Request form.  All requests for BTCM data are reviewed in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and applicable university policies to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of student records. Depending on the nature, scope, and intended use of the request, consultation with the Office of Institutional Research, Assessment, and Analytics (OIRAA) may be needed prior to approval or release.
