What's your favorite thing about Columbia?

I love being in a city because it makes me feel more connected to South Carolina as a whole. It's so fun to go to Soda City and see entire families, pets, kids, etc. and not just a bunch of college kids all the time.

What are your hobbies or things you like to do?

One of my favorite hobbies is rowing. I've been on crew teams for around 7 years now as a coxswain and now I coach up in Charlotte. Outside of rowing, I love spending time outdoors with friends and family and I am always down for a spontaneous side quest.

What has surprised you the most about [Nursing] school?

The aspect of nursing school that surprised me the most is the amount of concepts we actually learn. I always saw articles about clinicals and hands on learning, but nursing is so much more. Not only are you learning patient care but you’re learning pathophysiology, chemistry, microbiology, anatomy, and so much more!

What is an accomplishment in [college] that you are very proud of?

One college accomplishment I am proud of is maintaining my grades. I have been able to make the dean's list all my semesters here at USC which I am very proud of.

Why did you choose USC?

I chose USC specifically because of the nursing program and the overall culture of the school. I absolutely love going to a big school because I feel the gamecock community wherever I am. It doesn't matter if I'm on the other side of the country, if I wear a University of South Carolina sweatshirt at least one person will yell "go cocks!" and I will never get tired of it.

What advice would you give incoming students?

The best advice I could give incoming students is to trust yourself and know that the person you are is the reason you got to where you are today. You don't need to reinvent yourself in college and go to the gym every morning at 5am or have everything in life figured out. The person you are currently got you to this point in life and you should be proud with where you are and your accomplishments.
