as a Certified American Red Cross
Disaster Relief Volunteer
Posted September 7, 2005
The University allows 10 days paid leave for certified American Red Cross disaster relief volunteers.
Human Resources Policy 1.09, "Other Leave with Pay", states in Section I., C.:
"An employee who is a certified disaster service volunteer for the American Red Cross may use up to 10 days of paid leave in a calendar year to participate in specialized disaster relief services with the approval of the Vice President for Human Resources or the Vice President's designee."
An employee who is a certified disaster service volunteer for the American Red Cross must submit an Application for Leave (form P-83) to their department chair or authorized supervisor for signature.
The completed form with a copy of the employee's American Red Cross certification, dates they plan to work, and any communication activiating them, should be sent to the USC Division of Human Resources' Benefits Office, Suite 803, 1600 Hampton Street. Please mark the envelope with: "Disaster Relief Leave Request"
