Workshop for HR Contacts:
Retirement System Options for Temporary Hires
Posted February 6, 2008
Individuals hired into temporary positions have various retirement system options from which to select. A workshop about these options and the rules govering them will be offered by the Division of Human Resources' Benefits Office from 1-4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, and repeated on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
The workshop, which is designed for HR contacts responsible for completing hire paperwork, will be held in the Professional Development Traning Room at 1600 Hampton Street. The training will be conducted by George Hazin of the S.C. Retirement Systems.
Workshop participants will learn how to determine which options are available for each unique temporary hire situation, which form to complete and how to complete the different forms. A decision flow chart also will be provided during the workshop.
"Completion of this workshop will aid HR contacts in being able to offer an accurate explanation of retirement options," explained USC Benefits Manager Faye Gowans. "It also will help HR contacts understand that the timely submission of appropriate forms to the S.C. Retirement Systems is critical to ensure that retirement accounts are properly established and contributions appropriately remitted for our employees."
